Dennis William Day / Rana Nofal Soluri

The remains of a missing Texas flight attendant have been found more than a year after she disappeared, bringing a grim development in a murder case that investigators had already built largely without a body.

Rana Nofal Soluri, 47, vanished in March 2025 after apparently losing contact with friends, family members and coworkers.

More than a year later, on June 13, 2026, a fisherman discovered human remains along Brushy Creek near FM 1749 in Montague County, northwest of Fort Worth.

The remains were taken to the North Texas Center for Human Identification for testing.

Authorities later confirmed through DNA analysis that they belonged to Soluri.

Her family was formally notified in September.

Soluri worked as a flight attendant for Envoy Air, an American Airlines regional carrier, and had been living with longtime friend Dennis William Day in Fort Worth.

She was reported missing June 11, 2025, after a coworker became concerned because she had not heard from her since March.

Investigators quickly began uncovering troubling evidence.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, surveillance footage from March 21 showed Day dragging what appeared to be a lifeless body from the house into the backyard at about 10:11 p.m.

The home’s surveillance system then stopped recording for several days, investigators said.

Day initially denied knowing what had happened to Soluri.

But detectives allege his story later changed dramatically.

According to the affidavit, Day eventually told investigators that he “snapped” during an argument with Soluri and strangled her on the kitchen floor.

Police said he claimed Soluri had been recording him and threatening to call 911 shortly before the confrontation.

Investigators allege Day then placed Soluri’s body headfirst into a black trash bin and transported her roughly 65 miles from Fort Worth toward Bowie.

He allegedly told detectives that he dumped her body from a bridge.

Authorities searched several bridges and waterways in the area but initially found nothing.

Local law enforcement told investigators that creeks around the area had flooded repeatedly after Soluri disappeared, raising the possibility that her remains had been carried downstream.

That theory became increasingly significant after her body was eventually discovered along Brushy Creek.

Investigators told local media that they had previously searched the area where the remains were ultimately found but believe the body may have been covered by mud or debris at the time.

Day was arrested in June 2025 and later indicted on a murder charge.

He remains jailed on a $200,000 bond while the criminal case moves through court.

The discovery of Soluri’s remains gives prosecutors evidence they did not have when Day was originally arrested.

Another woman, Joanne Walters, who has also been identified in court records as Joni Thomas, has separately been accused of helping dispose of Soluri’s body.

She was indicted on a charge of tampering with evidence with intent to impair a human corpse.

Police have alleged that Walters helped transport Soluri’s remains after her death.

That case also remains pending, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Soluri’s remains have since been released to her daughter, Lulu.

A funeral prayer service, known as a janazah, was held in Richardson, Texas.

American Airlines also reportedly offered assistance transporting Soluri’s remains to Seattle, where her daughter planned to complete her mother’s burial.

A fundraiser established for the family is helping cover funeral expenses and travel costs related to the criminal proceedings.

The identification of Soluri’s remains has also affected the court schedule, with an upcoming hearing reportedly being moved to a later date.

Her daughter is expected to provide a victim-impact or survivor statement as the case progresses.

For more than a year, Soluri’s family was left without knowing where her body had been taken.

Now, after a fisherman’s discovery miles from where investigators first searched, her family can finally lay her to rest while prosecutors continue pursuing the case against the man accused of killing her.
