An Illinois woman is accused of a horrifying stabbing attack on two young girls she was babysitting.
Jennifer Kouchoukos, 51, of Naperville is facing two attempted murder charges in the repeated stabbings of the girls, who were age 1 and 4, in their DuPage County home.
Lisle Police had responded to the home at around 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 17, for a report of a suicide attempt, according to police.
They say they found a gruesome scene inside the home.
Officers found one of the children sitting in a bathroom covered in blood.
The other child was found sitting nearby on the kitchen floor, also covered in blood.
Crews rushed the children to the hospital. They were later transferred to Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago and are expected to survive despite the savage attack.
Kouchoukos was in the bathroom in blood-soaked clothing. Police say she had stabbed both children multiple times in their backs and chests.
“What a horrific incident our officers were faced with, I cannot praise them enough,” Lisle Chief of Police Kevin Licko said. “Once they knew there were injured children inside, the officers rushed into the house without hesitation.”
Police say Kouchoukos was unresponsive to any questions or commands. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Prosecutors have asked the court to order her to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Police found multiple knives stained with what appeared to be blood, an empty bottle of wine and a nearly empty bottle of rum.
“This is an extremely disturbing case for all those involved,” State’s Attorney Bob Berlin said. “We are all very grateful that the injuries sustained by the young girls in this case were not life-threatening and that they both appear to be on the road to recovery.”
Kouchoukos is being held in the DuPage County Jail without bail. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 12, 2024.

Her sentence should be to put her in a room with the parents armed with butcher knives.
