A beloved California bar manager died after he was punched when he asked several rowdy patrons to leave the pub.
Leonard Hector Korpie, 26, allegedly delivered a single punch to the manager during a scuffle outside Jameson’s Pub in Santa Monica around midnight Tuesday, according to police.
The manager, whose identity was not revealed, lost consciousness and was not breathing when police arrived.
Police attempted to resuscitate the manager with CPR until the Santa Monica Fire Department arrived and tried other “lifesaving measures.”
The unidentified bar manager was then rushed to the hospital, where he died.
The victim was reportedly a man in his early 50s, according to KTLA.
Korpie and two other patrons involved in the deadly scuffle were arrested and booked into the Santa Monica Jail, police said.
“We are still in shock at the sudden loss of a person who was a respected and esteemed member of our restaurant’s family,” a Jameson’s Pub spokesperson told the Sacramento Bee.
“He was well liked by both customers and staff and his passing has been deeply felt by all of us.”
Korpie, who is from Venice, was charged with murder and is being held on $2 million bail.
The other suspects involved were not named in the press release.
It remains unclear if they were released from jail.
Jameson’s Pub is about a mile from the historic Santa Monica Pier.

People are just animals. Asked to leave and this is what you do? Remember when things were civilized? This world where if something hurts your feelings, you feel disrespected or someone thinks they’re owed something and you can just lose all self control is not right. This is what happens to people when they started handing out participation awards. Seems like the world has turned into a f**king sideshow, people defend bad behavior and people can pretend to be anything they want.
