A heartbreaking discovery was made in Chicago over the weekend when the bodies of a woman and two children were pulled from Lake Michigan.

Authorities said the first call came in late Saturday morning, Sept. 13, when a female infant was found unresponsive near South DuSable Lake Shore Drive around 11:23 a.m. Just three hours later, police located the bodies of a 31-year-old woman and a 6-year-old boy about a mile away on East Hayes Drive.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet identified the victims, but investigators believe the three deaths are connected and may have stemmed from a domestic dispute. Police have confirmed they are not searching for any suspects at this time, though autopsy results are still pending.

The tragedy unfolded just hours before another drowning victim was recovered from the lake. Around 7 p.m. Saturday, three men were reported struggling in the water off Sheridan Road. Bystanders were able to rescue two of them, but a third man’s body was recovered later that night at about 9:40 p.m.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family and loved ones,” Evanston Fire Chief Paul Polep said in a statement, warning swimmers of the dangers of ignoring posted no-swimming signs.

The devastating back-to-back discoveries have shaken the community and raised fresh concerns about both water safety and the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding the three family members found in Lake Michigan.
