A Bronx woman endured a terrifying attack inside her own apartment building when a homeless predator allegedly raped and robbed her in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Authorities say 21-year-old Kenneth Siriboe ambushed the 36-year-old victim around 5 a.m. inside the East Gun Hill Road building near Putnam Place in Norwood. According to a criminal complaint, Siriboe allegedly covered the woman’s mouth with one hand while squeezing her throat with the other before throwing her to the ground and punching her repeatedly, leaving her bruised and bloodied.
Prosecutors said Siriboe then got on top of the victim and raped her as she pleaded, “No, no! Please stop! How much can I give you to make you stop?” The horrifying ordeal ended when he allegedly grabbed her Coach purse and wallet containing $250 in cash, her ID, and keys, then fled the building.
Surveillance footage released by the NYPD shows the suspect pulling up his pants and rushing down the stairwell with a towel around his neck. Sources said it’s unclear how Siriboe got into the building, but he remained inside for some time before the attack.
Police tracked him down the following afternoon inside another Bronx building about two miles away. He was arrested and charged with rape, robbery, burglary, grand larceny, and criminal obstruction of breathing. At his arraignment, a judge ordered him held on $30,000 bail.
Siriboe, who last lived in Union Beach, New Jersey, reportedly has no prior arrests in New York City. His next court date is Friday.
The attack comes as the Bronx faces a troubling surge in sex crimes. Police data shows 399 rapes reported in the borough so far this year — a nearly 27 percent increase from the same period in 2024. Citywide, reported rapes are up 19 percent compared to last year, with 1,504 cases logged across the five boroughs.
Police recently arrested two other suspects in separate Bronx rapes: 26-year-old Zion Exum, accused of attacking a 25-year-old woman after being caught skipping a subway fare, and 30-year-old Xavier Chapman, accused of raping a 19-year-old woman on a park bench in Belmont.
The NYPD has partly attributed the spike in reported rapes to legislative changes that broadened the legal definition of rape to include additional forms of sexual assault.
