Authorities in New York have confirmed the cause and manner of death of 34-year-old fitness instructor Jacob Zieben-Hood, who was found dead inside his Manhattan apartment in August with multiple stab wounds.
Jacob’s husband, 40-year-old model Donald Zieben-Hood, discovered him slumped over in the bathroom on August 1, according to police. Jacob had sustained severe injuries to his legs and face, and the apartment showed clear signs of a violent struggle.
On Friday, October 17, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner ruled Jacob’s death a homicide caused by multiple blunt and sharp force injuries.
Donald was indicted on October 1 on charges including burglary, assault, criminal contempt, and weapons possession, but has not been charged in connection with Jacob’s death at this time. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the night before Jacob’s body was found, he sent alarming messages to his father claiming Donald had attacked him. In those messages, Jacob said Donald had beaten and cut him and included photos showing his face covered in blood and a deep gash on his leg.
Donald reportedly called police around 4 a.m. on August 1, claiming to have found Jacob dead. Responding officers said there was blood on the walls, furniture, and floor, indicating a violent incident.
The DA’s office said Donald had previously been accused of assaulting Jacob on at least two separate occasions earlier this year, violating a protective order each time. In one of those incidents, Donald allegedly threatened Jacob with a knife.
Donald is currently facing multiple charges and is being held as the investigation continues. It remains unclear if additional charges will be filed related to Jacob’s death.
