A Florida Lyft ride turned terrifying when a driver allegedly opened fire on passengers over something as minor as slammed car doors.
Rolando Rivera-Casillas reportedly lost his temper after two brothers closed the SUV doors “too forcefully,” police said, then chased them and fired shots as they ran toward their Orlando home.
When deputies arrived, they found one brother in his 40s on the front porch with gunshot wounds to his chest and foot. He was listed in stable condition. Rivera-Casillas was reportedly standing beside his SUV with his gun and hands on the hood when police arrived.
The victims told authorities that Rivera-Casillas got out of the vehicle and fired at them as they fled. Surveillance video and helicopter footage backed up their account, police said.
Rivera-Casillas was taken into custody and demanded a lawyer, refusing to speak with detectives. He now faces two counts of attempted second-degree murder with a firearm.
A judge denied him bond and issued orders barring him from contacting the victims or witnesses and from possessing firearms.
Lyft confirmed that Rivera-Casillas has been permanently removed from the platform. “The behavior described has absolutely no place in the Lyft community or our society,” a spokesperson said, emphasizing that weapons are strictly prohibited.
