A New Orleans teacher is out of a job and facing criminal charges after police say she carried on a sexual relationship with a student at a prestigious all-girls private school.

Teddi Page, 29, was arrested Thursday, February 5, by the New Orleans Police Department following an investigation into allegations involving a student at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, where she previously taught biology.

According to court records, Page is charged with prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a student, a misdemeanor offense under Louisiana law.

The case reportedly came to light after the 18-year-old student’s mother contacted school officials. Authorities say the mother uncovered the alleged relationship after accessing an old phone that was still logged into her daughter’s social media accounts.

Page appeared in court on February 6, where a judge set her bond at $15,000.

School officials said they moved quickly once the allegations were brought to their attention.

“When our school became aware of a recent concern about one of our employees, we took the matter very seriously and immediately followed our safety protocols,” the school said in a statement to local media. “The employee was escorted off campus, and her employment was terminated. We then referred the matter to the New Orleans Police Department.”

The Academy of the Sacred Heart said all employees are required to undergo background checks and reference screenings before being hired, adding that Page’s background raised no red flags at the time.

School officials also said they are providing support and counseling resources to the affected student, her family, and other students who may be impacted by the situation.

It remains unclear whether Page has retained legal representation or plans to publicly respond to the allegations.

  1. This teacher should know better .No wonder we have stupid kids these days .Teavhers are not teaching .Many are destroying

  2. The student is 18 years old. That’s considered a legal, consenting adult here in the States. Regardless of her status at the school, she is legally able to make decisions for herself, including who she wishes to have a sexual relationship with. Now if this started when the student was under the age of 18 years, that’s different. That being said, the breach of trust between student and teacher has been compromised and based on what they are saying about rules and such at the school that this is a huge no-no … they both should have known not to do this until the student was – at least – a graduate and not a current student.
