A pregnant mother of two was tragically killed after being found shot inside her vehicle along a major Atlanta highway during evening traffic.
Police say officers responded around 6:15 p.m. on April 14 to reports of a person shot on the northbound lanes of I-75 near the airport. When they arrived, they found a woman behind the wheel suffering from a gunshot wound.
She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but did not survive.
The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Bianca Huntley.
Authorities say early findings suggest she may have been shot somewhere else before ending up on the highway, leaving investigators searching for answers about where — and why — the attack happened.
The medical examiner later confirmed Huntley died from gunshot wounds to her arm and torso, ruling her death a homicide.
For her family, the loss is devastating.
“She was my baby,” her mother said. “A shining light that got snuffed out.”
Huntley was a mother to two daughters, ages 14 and 5, and had recently been promoted at her job as a quality manager. She had just started building a new team and was on her way home from work when tragedy struck.
Her mother believes she may have been targeted, though police have not confirmed a motive.
