A fast-food order turned deadly in Missouri, and now a young woman is facing murder charges in a case that’s left a family devastated.

Police say 20-year-old Jada Bell has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 32-year-old Chauncia Meekins, a Steak ’n Shake employee.

The incident happened on April 8 at a Steak ‘n Shake location in Spanish Lake, where Meekins was working the drive-thru.

According to investigators, Bell placed an order but got into a dispute with staff over what she received. Family members later said the argument may have been over onion rings.

Police say things escalated quickly.

Authorities allege Bell threw a drink at Meekins, who then threw one back. Moments later, Bell is accused of pulling out a handgun and firing multiple shots.

Meekins was hit and later died from her injuries. Another employee was also shot in the hand and taken to the hospital.

Investigators say the entire incident was captured on surveillance video. Bell was reportedly seen driving a white SUV, and her phone was tracked to the scene at the time of the shooting.

She has been charged with first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. Bell is currently being held on a $1 million cash-only bond and is expected in court on April 28.

The victim’s family learned about the arrest while attending a vigil held at the same restaurant where Meekins was killed.

Loved ones are now calling for accountability, with one family member saying they support the death penalty—not out of revenge, but to send a message about the consequences of senseless violence.

A fundraiser has been set up to help cover Meekins’ funeral expenses as the community mourns a life lost far too soon.
