A North Carolina mother accused of driving 111 mph before crashing into a tree and killing her three children is now facing felony charges.

Megan Scott was officially charged Monday, June 15, with three counts of involuntary manslaughter, according to court documents obtained by ABC11.

The deadly crash happened on the night of Wednesday, June 3, in Fayetteville.

According to Fayetteville police, officers had tried to pull Scott over before the crash, but she allegedly sped away and struck two officers while fleeing the attempted traffic stop.

Officers later responded to the crash scene around 10:50 p.m. on Cedar Creek Road near Fields Road, off Highway 53.

Two children who had been ejected from the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. A third child was flown to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, where the child later died.

Court documents identify Scott as the driver and the mother of the three children.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol, which is leading the investigation, said none of the children were in child safety seats at the time of the crash.

In addition to the three manslaughter charges, Scott is also facing multiple traffic-related charges. Those include failing to properly secure the children in safety seats, not wearing a seat belt, failing to maintain lane, speeding and reckless driving.

She has also been charged with assault on an officer in connection with the two officers police say she hit while speeding away from the traffic stop.

Scott is being held in jail without bond.
