A heartbreaking case out of Houston has turned into a full-scale manhunt after a young pregnant woman was found dead—just days after mysteriously vanishing.
Authorities say 23-year-old Ashanti Allen, who was eight months pregnant, disappeared on April 8 after being last seen leaving an area near South Main Street. Her family quickly knew something was wrong when they stopped hearing from her.
Days later, on April 16, the devastating discovery was made. Allen’s body was found near a bayou not far from her home. Her unborn child also did not survive.
Now, police are searching for 24-year-old Kevin Faux, who is wanted on a capital murder charge in connection with her death. The Houston Police Department says he remains on the run.
The case has only grown more disturbing as new details emerge.
Family members say the last time they saw Allen, she was in her mother’s car. The following day, her mother received a strange text message from Allen’s phone—one that didn’t sound like her at all. In it, she claimed she was leaving and not coming back.
That message immediately raised red flags.
Allen had left behind all of her belongings, including items she had already prepared for her baby. To her family, it was clear something wasn’t right.
Police later upgraded the case to capital murder, and investigators revealed that Faux had a history of domestic violence involving Allen. Court records show he had previously been charged in multiple incidents and had recently been released after serving part of a sentence.
Now, loved ones are left grieving—and searching for answers.
Allen’s father spoke through the pain, saying he feels numb trying to process the loss of his daughter and his unborn grandson. He shared that she was excited about becoming a mother and had been preparing for the baby’s arrival.
“She was just living her life,” he said, describing her as hardworking and full of promise.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information on Faux’s whereabouts to come forward.
