A 10-year-old girl in Oregon became a real-life hero after stopping her father from murdering her mother and siblings during a brutal attack inside their home.

On June 7, 2021, Manuel Jesus Huchin-Interian launched into a violent rage against the mother of his children, accusing her of infidelity, according to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office. As the argument escalated, he threatened to kill her and their children, promising he would “finish her” and “finish the kids.”

Moments later, Huchin-Interian slit the woman’s throat.

Thinking fast, their 10-year-old daughter grabbed a knife and tried to stab her father. When the blade turned out to be too dull to stop him, she switched tactics, gathering her siblings and barricading them inside a bedroom. From there, she called 911, reporting the attack.

While her father fled the home, the young girl emerged from her barricade and began performing life-saving aid on her critically injured mother. Responding officers from the Gresham Police Department found the mother “lifeless” with a deep, eight-inch gash across her neck. Miraculously, she survived after being rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Huchin-Interian fled Oregon and managed to stay hidden for nearly three years. It wasn’t until March 2024 that authorities finally captured him in San Francisco.

Facing trial, Huchin-Interian ultimately accepted a plea deal just days before jury selection. He pleaded guilty to assault in the second degree constituting domestic violence. Under Oregon’s sentencing guidelines, he received 70 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

“This case underscores the devastating impact domestic violence has on children in the home,” said Multnomah County Senior Deputy District Attorney Robin Beck Skarstad in a statement. “The victim’s young daughter showed bravery and resilience that truly inspires us to work hard every day to interrupt the cycle of abuse and to keep families safe.”

Authorities have withheld the names of the mother and her children due to the sensitive nature of the case.

Manuel Jesus Huchin-Interian is scheduled for formal sentencing on April 28.

  1. He will probably get out after three years or so because of his ‘plea deal’ that gave him a 70 month sentence. What could he possibly have to deal with? I’m truly sick of hearing about plea deals all the time. Prosecutors should go for the highest incarceration times they can possibly get. Criminals are getting away with far too much in terms of sentencing.

    1. Death penalty! The man tried to kill her! She could have died from that slit throat. That’s attempted murder. These liberal states are nuts. The judge will give him 5 or 6 years in prison and the perp gets out and kills again!
