A Florida woman was arrested last week after she allegedly hit her neighbor with a hammer while hammering lawn stakes.

Kelly Figueroa, 58, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by FOX 35.

Figueroa was hammering down lawn stakes on Dec. 29. to prepare for fence installation at her home in Spring Hill before the altercation occurred.

Figueroa told deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office that she has an ongoing dispute with her neighbor about the property line between their homes.

She accused the neighbor of approaching her and pushing her while she was hammering the stakes.

The neighbor’s son told police that Figueroa pushed the neighbor and struck her with a hammer. He said the argument began because Figueroa placed the lawn stakes in her neighbor’s yard instead of her own.

Figueroa did not appear to have any injuries, but the neighbor had swelling and bruising on her left wrist, the affidavit said.

Figueroa told police that the neighbor’s injury “would have occurred while she worked in her own yard, and her allegations were false.”

Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services responded, but the neighbor refused treatment.

Figueroa was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
